Lessons with Dee Charters BHSAI Accredited Sports Coach
Dee has been invovled with horses for over 50 years as having started with a pony at 12 years old and then going on to compete regularly affiliated to BSJA in Newcomers, Foxhunter and Grade C and competed at Hickstead many times both in Juniors and Seniors and representing Riding Clubs in team competitions. Being based in the Midlands trained with top showjumpers including Stephen Hadley, John Lanni (who is related to Ronnie Massarella, who was Chef 'd' equipe of British SJ teams), Graham Fletcher, Paddy McMahon, Bob Ellis (who now course builds and built the 2012 London Olympic Course) and also used to compete many timed against the one and only Nick Skelton as he was based at the time with the Edgars. After a gap to bring up family Dee then started working with Hunters and Point to Point yard schooling and exercising on the gallops, and then progressing to Arab Racing where became a race jockey competeing on many courses including Aintree. Since training at Duchy College, where she achieved the Best Student Award, has now been teaching for over 17 years, gone on to manage local yards and train BHS Students for their stage exams and NVQ students for their qualifications. Dee carries a wealth of knowledge and experience to her teaching having competed regularly at Hunter Trials and Cross Country events and qualified for the BHS Cross Country Championships held at Eland Lodge in 2011, and continues to enjoy teaching riders of all ages and abilities with an emphasis on learning through fun with positive reinforcements and results. Available for confidence building lessons, tailored to indivdual needs and never pushes clients beyond their comfort, in flat, show jumping and cross countrywith the emphasis on both showjumping and cross country.
